Have We Been Deceived into Worshipping “Another Jesus”?

The following verses were in my Bible reading this morning – I did not pick this section, it was simply in my daily reading in eSword:

And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel. And the LORD said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel. And Moses said unto the judges of Israel, Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Baalpeor. And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand; And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel. And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy.  (Num 25:1-11)

We serve a jealous God!  Paul wrote of his concern about Christians being deceived into worshipping “another Jesus”:

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.  (2Co 11:3-4)

Binding the Strongman over America

Binding the Strongman over America

I recently watched a video interview of John Benefiel on Sid Roth.  It was one of the most inspiring videos I have ever seen.  But one of the best things is that it gave me hope!

I must admit that hearing some of the things that have been happening in America is downright disheartening.  Listening to alternative news media like Alex Jones’ Prison Planet and Glenn Beck’s The Blaze is very informative about what is really going on in America – how all of our constitutional rights are on the verge of being lost while immorality runs rampant.  However, working through the political process doesn’t seem to be changing things much, and I cannot advocate any type of offensive physical violence.  So, this video gave me hope because now I see that we can change our towns, cities, counties, states and nations!

John shares how they have made extraordinary progress in transforming his home state of Oklahoma through a network of intercessory prayer warriors, repentance and reconciliation for broken covenants, innocent bloodshed, immorality and idolatry.   Proverbs 26:2 says that the curse does not come without cause.  So, if we are experiencing drought and economic catastrophe, there is a reason:

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; (Eph 6:10-18)

Just as Heaven is real, but we don’t see it with our eyes right now – in the same way, there is so much going on in the spirit realm all around us!  We are in the midst of a war – unseen though it may be.  We are under attack.  We must always act in love toward all people, but we must begin to put on the whole armor of God daily and pray – standing in the gap for our children, our family, friends, towns, cities, counties, states and nations.  We must seek God’s face and seek to live righteously in His eyes, asking for His mercy.

If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (2Ch 7:14)

I encourage you to consider joining with others who are praying such as:  Texas Apostolic Prayer Network and Heartland Apostolic Prayer Network.

Here is a prayer I am going to pray, based on Daniel’s prayer for Israel and Jerusalem in Daniel 9:3-19.  Won’t you join me?

“I set my face unto You, oh Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fastings.  Oh Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love You, and to them that keep Your commandments, we have sinned, and we have committed iniquity, and we have done wickedly, and we have rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments.  We have not listened toYour servants, which have spoken in Your name to our government officials and to all of us.  Oh Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but we are embarrassed before You because of our trespasses that we have trespassed against You, Oh Lord.   We are shamed before You, Oh Lord, because we have sinned against You.  Oh Lord our God, to You belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against You and not obeyed Your voice, to walk in Your ways, which You set before us by Your servants the prophets.  Yes, Lord, we have all transgressed Your law, by not obeying Your voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, because we have sinned against You.   You have confirmed Your Word by bringing upon us all this evil,  yet we have not made our prayer before You, our LORD and our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand Your Truth.  You are righteous, oh LORD our God in all Your works which You do,  for we have not obeyed Your voice.  And now, O Lord our God, that brought our fathers into this good land with many mighty miracles, formerly published abroad, we confess that we have sinned, and we have done wickedly.  Oh Lord, according to all Your righteousness, I beseech You, let Your anger and Your fury be turned away from our people, our towns, cities, counties, states and nations.  Now therefore, Oh Lord our God, hear our prayers, and our supplications, and cause Your face to shine again upon our land, now dry and desolate.  Oh my God, incline Your ear, and hear; open Your eyes, and see our desolations, and the land You once blessed.  We do not present our supplications before You because we are righteous, but because Your mercy is great.  Oh Lord, hear our prayers!  Oh Lord, forgive us!  Oh Lord, please help us to turn from our wicked ways and seek Your face that You may have mercy on us and heal our land!  Please make us a lighthouse to the world again!”

May God bless you and protect you as you stand in the gap for your children, family, friends, towns, cities, counties, states and nations.
